The Next World War Will Be or Become a Bio War. So, We Must Be Prepared at Home and Abroad

How do you inform your employer of the risk of a bioattack and protect yourself and your spouse, children, grandchildren, and other loved ones?

It’s the Holiday Season, and while it's a time to rest, it's also a time to assess, plan, and prepare with a clear mind.

Why Prepare for a Bio War?

Why will the next World War be or become a bio war? Specific biotechnology and genetic engineering advancements enable the possibility of a future world war involving biowarfare. As science's capabilities grow, a bio attack’s risks increase proportionately.

Today, it is easier for sophisticated and well-connected terrorist groups, hostile nations, and their proxies to create new pathogens, weaponize existing ones, or steal or purchase others and develop better distribution mechanisms.

Other Reasons

What are the other reasons the risk of bioattack is now high—and ever-increasing? There are many additional reasons. Here are just a few.

  1. Ready Availability of Required Resources and Technology: New knowledge in the biology sciences and ever-advancing gene reconstruction tools enable attackers to create viruses or bacteria with greater lethality, transmissibility, and or drug resistance. Only a sensible and practical way to “keep them outside the wall” will prevent them from killing people.

  1. Extremely Stealthful, Including Difficult to Detect and Source: Bioweapons can be made stealthy in many ways. Their concealed distribution is easy. Their “explosion” and the appearance of symptoms and deadly effects can be delayed. These features make it impossible to quickly and cheaply trace their source of origin or launch and, therefore, eliminate the deterrence of quick retaliation.

  1. Large Killing Capacity at Pennies per Death: Bioweapons can kill faster, better, cheaper, and safer (for the attackers) than nuclear or conventional weapons.  For some pathogens, a small “bio-bomb” can kill hundreds or even thousands. If distributed like well-coordinated “time or season delay” grenades across a city, they might even kill millions.

  1. Quickly Spreadable and Scalable Today: It’s the “spread” that kills millions. If a deadly pathogen barely spreads, it kills hundreds or, at most, thousands. During the Middle Ages, people riding camels or cargo ships at a few miles per hour transmitted the bubonic plague to such an extent that it killed half the world’s population. Today, Jumbo Jets travel at a speed of 600 miles per hour.

  1. The Attacker Needn’t Be Russia or China; Terrorist Groups, Small Hostile Nations, or Their Proxies Can Launch the Attack. As we saw with COVID-19, whether nature-made or human-manufactured, if we are extensively unprepared, bioweapons can bring the US and its allies to their knees.

My insights and projections do not guarantee that the next World War will be or become a bio war. Still, they make a good case for why you should be concerned that it is a growing threat. Therefore, you should now speak with your employer about their actions to protect you.

No matter where your work facility is located, it will likely be at risk for such an event. Be prepared and ask your employer to be ready—for the sake of your spouse, children, and grandchildren.

You have “done your all” for them. So, just as with fire protection and health insurance, they must do their all for you. There is no excuse if they don’t. In some situations, robust bio-attack protections cost less than 1,000th  per employee or family member monthly than health insurance.
